Health in a New Key Partnership Grants

Together we can improve the health of our communities! SLHI is in search of community partnerships that:

  • Connect people
  • Define issues that will build healthy communities
  • Develop innovative solutions for lasting change
  • Foster individual and community assets
  • Recognize opportunities and take action

If these qualities describe you and your community partners, we would like to talk to you about applying for an SLHI Health in a New Key Partnership Grant.

How to Get Started

First, please read the narratives included under Grant Resources, especially the sections included under Community Partnership Grants (Goals and Philosophy, and What We're Looking For) and Health in a New Key -- as they will provide you with background and significant insights into the mission of SLHI and how we do our work.

Second, the grant application process begins with a conversation with SLHI staff about your thoughts regarding the following questions:

  • What health-related issue do you want to address?
  • Does your proposed work lend itself to strengths-based and community-based strategies?
  • What community/communities are you working with to do this work?
  • How will you know if you are successful?

We've learned that our best investments are collaborative efforts that may entail multiple meetings and/or discussions about the proposed plan prior to the submission of an actual proposal. If we find that there is a mutual fit, a formal proposal is submitted to the SLHI Board of Trustees for their consideration twice a year -- in August/September and February/March. (How to Apply)

Remember -- talk to us before you submit a proposal. The SLHI Board of Trustees will consider only those proposals from organizations that have had prior discussion with program staff.
