Arizona Population by Primary Insurance Market Segment, 2002–2010 (In Thousands)
The slow but steady decline in employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) among both large and small employers is projected to continue at least through the end of the decade.
Even as the percentage of uninsured Arizonans is projected to decrease slightly over the coming years, the number of people without insurance will increase by about 20,000 per year.
Notes:
Medicaid figures do not include individuals who are also eligible for Medicare, as Medicare would be considered their "primary" source of health insurance coverage.
Small employers are those employers who employ 50 or fewer employers. Remaining employers are classified as "large employers."
Individuals covered only through the Indian Health Service are included in the uninsured market segment.
