• Healthcare expeditures for the under-65 population are expected to more than double between 2002 and 2010. Increases are a function of both population growth and medical inflation.
• The individual coverage market segment is projected to grow most rapidly, largely due to the expectation of higher purchasing levels of individual coverage as employers continue to cover an ever-smaller proportion of Arizonans.
• Expenditures in the Medicaid and uninsured market segments reflect similar expectations that some individuals who have previously been covered through their employer lose that coverage and seek coverage through Medicaid or become uninsured.
