Arizona Uninsured by Secondary Market Segment and Percent of Federal Poverty Level, 2006

  • The majority of uninsured have a household member who is employed at least part time (82.4%).
  • Regardless of employment status, approximately one-third of the uninsured live in poverty, e.g., have household incomes below the federal poverty level. Another one-third of the uninsured are near poverty, and the remaining one-third have household incomes at least double the poverty level.

Notes:

  1. Small employers are those employers who employ 50 or fewer employers. Remaining employers are classified as "large employers."
  2. Self-employed persons are assumed to be able to access the health insurance market via individual health insurance coverage.
